What is TDEE Calculator?

Total daily energy expenditure is everything you burn in 24 hours: your basal metabolism, the energy of daily movement, deliberate exercise, and the small cost of digesting food. It is the single most useful calorie number, because eating at TDEE maintains weight, below it loses and above it gains. This calculator builds TDEE from your BMR and an activity multiplier. The four parts of TDEE

Basal metabolic rate (60–70%), the thermic effect of food (about 10%), non-exercise activity thermogenesis (daily movement, highly variable) and exercise. The last two are where most of the day-to-day variation lives, which is why step count tracks TDEE better than workout hours alone.

How do I choose my activity level?
Be honest rather than optimistic. Sedentary (1.2) is desk work with little exercise; lightly active (1.375) is 1–3 workouts a week; moderately active (1.55) is 3–5; very active (1.725) is 6–7; extra active (1.9) is hard training plus a physical job.
Is TDEE exact?
No, it is an estimate within about 10–15%. Wearables and formulas both have error. Use the estimate as a starting point, then adjust based on two to three weeks of real weight data.
Does TDEE change?
Yes. It falls as you lose weight, drops with age, and rises with activity and muscle mass. Recalculate after roughly 4–6 kg of weight change or a significant change in training.
What is the difference between BMR and TDEE?
BMR is calories at complete rest; TDEE is calories including all activity. TDEE is always higher — typically 1.2 to 1.9 times BMR depending on how active you are.
